Set Up Family Budget Basics

When the economy the way it if you don't have a budget, there's a good chance you're constantly overdrawing your checking account, behind on your bills, and can never find the money to do the things you want to do. It's vital that you set up family budget basics, so that when the kids need something, want to do something, or something unexpected comes up, you can handle it financially.

The first thing you need to do is add up your family budget basics. This will include your home costs whether it's renting or owning. It includes your power or energy bill, includes your phone bill, Internet and TV, and possibly garbage and sewer bills. These are home basics, without them, you are going to have a hard time getting to work, being happy, or even surviving.

This is the minimum that you have to have in order to survive in your world. This basic family budget does not include food, traveling expenses, children's school costs, or anything else. This is the minimum, the basics, and just the basics.

Then, you're going to need to add in the other essentials. This will include groceries, traveling expense, and children's school costs. This is then added to your basic lodging requirement budget.

This total is what you need to survive. It has your food, your home, and transportation. Remember, you can actually cut this budget by looking for government aid, hitting the food banks, or perhaps change your traveling somehow.

Everything after that is extra. In other words, you could get rid of your car payment, get rid of your charge cards, and get rid of private club fees, and your children unfortunately, may not be able to do sports.

The economy is rough today, if you have hit rock-bottom you need to have family budget basics down pat. This is the minimum amount of money that you need to survive. Everything else can be changed, reduced, or cut out.
